How to Use This Calculator

Enter your total volume to move, truck capacity, cycle time, working hours, and number of trucks. The calculator shows you daily production and how long the job will take.

What is Cycle Time?

Cycle time is the total time for one truck to complete a full cycle: load → haul → dump → return → spot for next load. Typical cycle times:

• Short haul (under 500m): 8-12 minutes
• Medium haul (500m-1km): 12-20 minutes
• Long haul (1km+): 20-40+ minutes
• Add 2-3 minutes for loading time at excavator

How to Improve Production

• Reduce haul distance — shorter = faster cycles
• Add more trucks — eliminates excavator waiting
• Maintain haul roads — rough roads slow trucks down significantly
• Match truck size to excavator bucket — 3-4 passes per truck is ideal
• Grade haul road for loaded trucks — downhill loaded, uphill empty

Example

Moving 5,000 cy with 3 trucks at 14 cy each, 20-minute cycles, 10-hour day:

• Loads per truck per hour: 3 (60 ÷ 20)
• Loads per truck per day: 30 (3 × 10)
• Total loads per day: 90 (30 × 3 trucks)
• Production per day: 1,260 cy (90 × 14)
• Days to complete: 4 days (5,000 ÷ 1,260)
